Hi Rick,

V2 is still pre-alpha state. I've not yet decided if V2 will go to open source or be "sold" to prospective buyers outright (that would be software shops who can do it justice). That said however, I offer services/consulting for generating code for you - and would be happy to figure out a fixed-priced bid for what you are trying to do. I would also be happy to demo the software to you over screen-sharing & skype (free to do).

Please let me know if you are interested.

Thanks Rick,
Dan Linstedt

I am currently in the process of providing a proof of concept for a data vault implementation and a subsequent set of dimensional reporting marts. I'm very anxious to take a look at the version 2 of the Rapid Ace product which will assist me in generate the informatica processing. Please let me know how I would go about impelmenting a beta test of the product even if it is only for my own training.

Hi Roland,

Yes, I have intentions to continue "poking, prodding, and developing" bits and pieces of RapidACE as I go forward. But the "company" disolving means that it will no longer be an "official company" - all the IP of RapidACE will still be done under the RA web-site and name, however, any "services" I offer around RapidACE will be done through my main company: Empowered Holdings, LLC as just another consulting offering.

This includes custom template development.

Hope this helps,
Dan L

Dan, I just read this post: http://rapidace.com/news/rapidace-sourceforge-project/ and this basically answers my questions already - yes, the intention is to keep developing rapidACE, and yes, you are inviting people to help out. Great - this really is very good news :)

Hi Dan!

this is a great and courageous move, kudos! I assume that open sourcing the software is done in the hopes that it will help the methodology prevail and proliferate. I hope this will be a big success.

I'm wondering a bit about how you phrased this: "The company itself will “disolve”, but the software will be made available". Does this mean you will just release what is there, or are there intentions of actively maintaining the software? And in that case, do you envision development by an open source community?

Anyway, data vault practitioners will now have two open source tools to choose from - rapidACE and Quipu - and I think that a bit of healthy competition will be a good thing for everybody.

kind regards,

Roland Bouman
